STOP-DWI stands for 'Special Traffic Options Program for Driving While Impaired'. The organization was created in 1981 by the New York State Legislature to empower counties in coordinating local efforts to reduce traffic crashes caused by impaired driving. STOP-DWI aims to promote public awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, providing educational resources, community engagement, and law enforcement collaboration.
