The mission and purpose of the ymca is to put christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. ymca programs emphasize four core values - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. we serve men, women, and children of all ages, races, abilities, incomes, and religions. as a charitable, community- based organization, we seek to identify community needs and to respond to them in such a way that the entire community benefits; the ymca's commitment in this regard is that no one is denied membership or program participation due to inability to pay, so financial assistance is provided to those who need it, to the extent funds are available to do so. in 2022, the ymca provided $43,416 in financial assistance to 149 children in our child care programs and $19,988 to 611 individuals of all ages for ymca memberships.

To surround students with a community of support empowering them to succeed in school and achieve in life. the organization operates and maintains programs for graduation support, teen pregnancy support and a food pantry.

The economic needs of the town led individuals to form this ministry to help meet the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of thomasville and surrounding areas. the founders felt that the most important need at the time was physical - food. he cares sought to alleviate the need for food on weekends for children by providing bag lunches on saturdays. this soon led delivering boxes of necessities to entire families in need along with the bag lunch provided.

The purpose of the organization is to further the economic development of thomasville, nc and the surrounding areas and to promote job creation opportunities and growth in the tax base. the organization collects and distributes donations to assist the thomasville area chamber of commerce in its economic development activities.
