Better days animal league is a non-profit animal organization with an adoption center in chambersburg, pa. each year, many cats and kittens come to our rescue in hopes of finding their "forever" homes. we are committed to providing abused, abandoned and neglected cats the love and care they so rightly deserve until the day they are adopted. bdal continues to serve our community without paid administrative staff. due to the overwhelming need for low cost spay/neuter services in our area, bdal has focused on providing transportation to available tnr clinics and sponsoring clinics with our local veterinary offices. our intent is to help reduce cat overpopulation in our community by preventing as many unwanted litters as possible.

The civic club was organized in 1911 with the objective to develop the educational and civic interest of its members and to advance the welfare of the community. initially the club met in homes, churches, the ymca or any available space. at a meeting in 1920 a motion was made that receipts from a november rummage sale be set aside as a beginning of a clubhouse fund. the club currently has 61 members, many of whom are very active in the various committees that make up the club. the court house committee has the responsibility for the preservation and maintenance of the court house and its antique furnishings. court house docents also provide tours during the year with an open house each month from may through december. private tours may be arranged by contacting the civic club of shippensburg. the garden committee maintains the gardens and grounds surrounding the building and also provides tours to individuals and groups.

The shippensburg university foundation secures funds for the benefit of the students and programs of shippensburg university. the su foundation secures annual and capital support for, but not limited to, scholarships, student and faculty research, cultural programming, equipment, facilities and other university priorities. the su foundation also manages endowed funds, provides quality off-campus student housing and operates an on-campus child and family center.

To promote the establishment of multi-use public recreation trails, primarily along abandoned railroad right-of-ways located throughout the cumberland valley region of pennsylvania.
