Introducing Impact Portfolios
A Better Way to Give
Impact Portfolios are a powerful way to support multiple causes and nonprofits with a single donation. Global problems require nuanced solutions, and despite their best efforts, individual nonprofits can't always address every aspect of an issue alone. Portfolios solve this problem, allowing you to support a diverse range of nonprofits working towards the same goal.
For making a difference
Sometimes you know what you care about, but not how to help. The finance world solved this problem with thematic index funds. We're doing the same thing for philanthropy.
For recurring giving
Nonprofits need recurring donations to plan for the future. Our Impact Portfolios make it easy to set up a recurring donation to support your favorite causes; if a nonprofit has met its budget plans, our infrastructure can route your donation to other nonprofits in the same impact area.
For you
Impact Portfolios are personal. Use them as a way to show your friends and family what you care about, or as a way to keep track of your giving over time.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, email our support team at hi@philanthropia.io and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
How do you work under the hood?
Philanthropia takes on the heavy lifting of distributing payments to nonprofits so that no one has to deal with the heavy transaction costs so common on other donation sites and nonprofit websites. We make a promise to send our nonprofit partners their full funds within 90 days, though often much sooner.
What is the MIP Score?
We calculate metrics from a nonprofits publicly reported IRS filings data. We take each metric, compare it against the same metric across all other U.S nonprofits, and then score the metric based on its relative decile. Combining all these metric scores gives us the MIP score.
I found other organizations called Philanthropia, are you sure you can use this name?
We're 99% sure. The other 1% is just us hoping for the best.
How do you get your information on charities? Can I trust it?
We wrote code to go through over 1M public IRS records to extract and verify our data. If anything looks incorrect, please let us know! We're always looking to improve.
How do you make money?
We charge nothing for donors and nonprofits. We instead charge businesses a small fee to partner with us and create impact.
Do you create tax receipts?
Yup, and we give you a full dashboard and analytics platform too.
Can I donate in honor of someone?
Absolutely! It's the perfect gift for that friend who has everything, including a guilty conscience.
I lost my donation receipt, how do I get a copy?
Send us a smoke signal. Or you can just email us, we're always here to help!
How does the money transfer work? Are my donations tax-deductible?
All donations on Philanthropia are 100% tax-deductible. In practice, all donations first go to the Philanthropia Charitable Giving Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (pending letter of determination). Our giving fund sends your donations to the nonprofits exactly as you've donated. We don't make any money from this.
Can I donate to my own charity?
You can and should! But it's like giving yourself a high five. It's not illegal, but it's a little weird.
How do I apply for a job/ volunteer at Philanthropia or its giving fund?
We're always looking for new talent. Just send your resume to careers@philanthropia.io, and we'll get back to you if we're interested.
