Following the election of Israel’s extremist government, NIF grantees spearheaded protests and awareness campaigns to defend democratic principles. Key pro-democracy protests were organized across the country to push back against the government’s radical agenda.

NIF and partners provided essential humanitarian aid to Bedouin communities during crises, including water, food, first-aid kits, and mobile shelters. These efforts aimed to protect one of Israel's most vulnerable populations lacking infrastructure and municipal services.

NIF supports activists who act as physical buffers in violent settler situations, facing harassment and political arrests. Comprehensive support systems are in place to protect these human rights defenders and ensure their safety.
Historic Grantmaking
Since 1979, NIF has granted over $345 million to more than 950 organizations advocating for social change in Israel. These grants have supported initiatives ranging from establishing the first rape crisis centers to advancing Arab-Jewish partnerships.
Safeguarding Human Rights in the West Bank
NIF supports Israeli activists working alongside Palestinians to combat settler violence, including providing legal and logistical support. The initiative includes creating a safety net for human rights defenders operating in highly risky environments.
Blocking Harmful Anti-Democratic Legislation
NIF's legal advocacy helped Israel's Supreme Court strike down an amendment to the 'reasonableness clause' and other harmful legislation threatening democratic checks and balances.
