Daughters Beyond Incarceration (DBI) is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and crime by advocating for girls with incarcerated parents and building strong parent-to-child relationships through public education, leadership development, and implementing policy change. DBI provides a safe haven and support for Black girls impacted by parental incarceration.

Since DBI started in May 2018, we have mentored over 70 girls impacted by parental incarceration in New Orleans and the surrounding areas.

Youth Policy Program
Our mentees have drafted policies that improve the quality of life for children with incarcerated parents, including reducing phone fees and improving visitation room conditions.
Youth Participants
Youth Violence Prevention Week
Organized a week-long program involving youth from across Louisiana to address incarceration and violence, empowering them to propose solutions.

An 8-week program designed for girls aged 8 to 18 who have a currently or formerly incarcerated parent, focusing on various aspects of well-being.
Policy Fellowship Program
Empowers high school girls with incarcerated parents to become informed advocates and leaders.
