(the school) is a charter school and is a component unit of the school board of miami- dade county, florida (the district) and is a component unit of the district. the schools charter is held by south point scholars academy, inc., a not-for-profit corporation, organized pursuant to chapter 617, florida statutes, the florida not for profit corporation act, and section 1002.33, florida statutes. the governing body of the school is the board of directors which is comprised of not less than six members.
