The mission of the livingston food pantry of park county is to ensure that no person in livingston or park county, montana, ever suffers from food insufficiency. much of the area served is low-income and rural; more than 16% of the households in livingston live below the federal poverty level, so the need is great. since its founding in 2005, the livingston food pantry has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of the many children, adults, and elderly who struggle with hunger and other traumatic issues resulting from living in poverty. innovative programs have been developed to leverage the pantry's role in the community's food system, economy, health care and education systems. the programs are designed and implemented to address the root causes of poverty and hunger in meaningful and long-lasting ways. the pantry strives to accomplish its mission by ensuring access to nutritious food; helping drive economic development; and improving access to adequate health care and educatio

Elk river arts & lectures (eral) was founded to facilitate an ongoing lecture and reading series in livingston, montana, and surrounding rural communities. writers are brought in to read and/or lecture for the benefit of both the general public and local schoolchildren. there are several author programs each year, held either in the public schools or in a nearby conference facility. the most significant event is a workshop held in august, where several authors speak and lead workshops.

Preservation and repurposement of historic grain elevator in livingston mt.

The organization purchased a surplus former school building in 1994. the rooms and spaces are rented out to other local nonprofit organizations, small business startups and artists at affordable rates.the old gymnasium has been rehabilitated for use as a home for the nonprofit blitzkieg wrestling club for children. the auditorium has been refurbished for use by the local community. land in front of the school has been converted to serve as a community garden and the nonprofit farm-to-school program. grants have been received to replace old windows with energy efficient and historically appropriate replacements.in 2021 a property management company was hired to maintain premises.

Relief for the poor, distressed and underprivledged

The mission of 4 ranges community recreation foundation inc. (foundation) is to manage, maintain, and support publicly-accessible recreation facilities to expand and enhance recreational opportunities and enrich the quality of life and personal wellbeing for residents of the greater livingston montana community and surrounding areas. the foundation pursues this mission by seeking and securing funds to construct a multi-sport, publicly owned community recreation facility that will be open to individuals on a user-fee basis. following construction, the foundation may thereafter manage and maintain that facility pursuant to a separate contractual arrangement with the city or another party. however, no such contractual arrangement is in place at this time.

The organization works in conjunction with the local rotary club and receives contributions from that club and individual club members to fund related activites. it also receives some grants from some local nonprofits. funds have been raised in prior years to assist in clean water projects in south america (with rotary international) and develop a childrens' water spray park in downtown livingston. the club also provides small funds to local children in need, when requested by local schools or health organizations
