The adams county library system (acls) provides free public library services to the residents of adams county, pennsylvania. the acls also participates in the pennsylvania statewide library card program and offers eligible pennsylvania residents a free library card and library services. library services are accomplished by delivering a popular materials collection, internet access and programs for all ages that will connect people to opportunities that will enrich their lives. the acls offers additional services through participation in power library, pennsylvania's electronic library and the access pennsylvania statewide borrowing program.

The land conservancy of adams county is a member-supported nonprofit land trust with the mission to preserve the rural land and character of adams county, pennsylvania. we use conservation easements, outreach, advocacy and collaboration to maintain the benefits of open space lands, preserve our community's way of life and protect our unique heritage and ecosystem.

To provide shelter and care for lost, abandoned and abused animals, investigates cases of cruelty to animals, recommends the prosecution of persons engaging in animal neglect or cruelty, helps control animal overpopulation and educates the community about spay/neuter programs, animal wellness and safety, launching spay and neuter programs.

To promote knowledge and understanding of the accomplishments of the 34th president of the united states and general of the army; the code by which he lived; and the signal qualities that made him in his time the world's most trusted figure. to establish at gettysburg college, of which he was a trustee and on whose campus he maintained his gettysburg office, an endowment for the dignified and scholarly annual observance of his birthday by examination and presentation of the many facets of his career as a dedicated citizen, churchman, educator, military leader, statesman and world figure; to publish and distribute the annual program in recorded form to secondary schools and colleges, and libraries, as permanent reference material.to work toward the establishment of an eisenhower chair of other educational activities at gettysburg college.

The organization provides advance level soccer training for youth ages 6-19 in the gettysburg area, with the opportunity for gaining competitive experience by conducting and attending soccer tournaments and providing training and league competition at an advanced level.

Main street gettysburg is a non-profit organization committed to the preservation and revitalization of historic gettysburg for the benefit of its citizens, businesses, and visitors.

Maintain housing units provided to the elderly and the disabled. the total number of units available is 83. mcsherrystown interfaith village has 47 units, and gettysburg interfaith gardens has 36 units.

Provides housing for elderly and economically disadvantaged individuals in adams county. the corporation operates five housing projects, two built under the department of agriculture rural development (rd) program, one built under the department of housing and urban development's (hud) elderly housing program, one financed by the federal home loan bank and one by assistance program low interest loan. in addition to providing housing, the corporation offers financial counseling services and low interest home improvement loans to qualifying participants in adams county.
