Education and hope is a non-profit organization empowering change through education and wellness in the western highlands of guatemala. founded on the belief that education is a fundamental human right and that all the world's children deserve to be educated, we strongly believe that education is the most effective agent to break the cycle of poverty. our approach is holistic, and our work focuses on strengthening academic achievement, physical and emotional development, and developing core life skills. our program consists of two primary components: comprehensive scholarships covering the costs involved in educating each student; and an after-school enrichment center providing tutoring, nutritious meals, showers, medical attention, and mental health counseling in a family-centered environment filled with love.

The operating board of the andrew shaw memorial trust manages the andrew shaw memorial trust on behalf of the trustees and provides its scout cabin, facilities and property: * first and foremost to promote and support quality boy scouts of america programs for the benefit of youth in the town of darien; and * second, for the benefit of other boy scouts of america units it may sponsor; * and if these needs are met, to allow use of the scout cabin to other darien youth organizations with similar values to the boy scout program.

The noroton heights depot is a teen center which provides a safe, supervised, drug-free and alcohol-free environment in which high school age youth can gather and socialize. through its own student governance and recreational inter- face with other youth organizations and the high school. the depot offers opportunities for leadership experiences and positive youth development.

The noroton heights fire department, incorporated provides fire and other emergency response services to its district within the town of darien, connecticut, as well as providing mutual aid coverage to the other fire departments in town and to surrounding communities, both upon request and upon established agreements. the department is totally staffed by volunteers, 24 hours per day. the response service includes extinguishment of fire of any sort (structural, vehicle, open land, etc.), emergency extraction of victims and structure stabilization, of vehicle accidents and other entrapments, search and rescue of lost persons, initial hazard material response and other emergency situation responses of a nature requiring immediate action due to person or property being at risk. the department serves approximately 40% of the town of darien, responding to approximately 300 alarms. property and building which house the department is owned by the department. the department does not have any pa

The mission of the darien ymca is to put christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. we have been a critical resource in this community for the past 50 years with over 300 programs that focus on healthy living, youth development and social responsibility. we serve families and individuals of all abilities, backgrounds and social and economic level, financial assistance is available, so no one is turned anyone away from our programs and services if they are unable to pay.
