The mission of the ymca is to put christian principles in to practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. the association is a charitable, community service organization founded and led by volunteers from the community, with a membership that includes men, women and children of all ages, abilities, races, religions and income levels, offering financial assistance to those in need. members and volunteers serve as mentors, coaches, program leaders, instructors and more. the association is dedicated to provide a lasting community resource where by its members can improve the quality of their lives; physically, spiritually and socially through activities shared with others and put christian principles in to practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body and develope leadership, encourage community interaction and international understanding.

To support the educational activities and endeavors of danville public school

To ensure the long term viability of danville's river district as a center of business and civic life, and a source of community pride. rda carries out this mission through activities to attract and retain businesses, residents and visitors while promoting danville's high quality of life, preserving its historic and cultural assets, and capitalizing on its unique location along the dan river. rda works in partnership with the city of danville and other stakeholders to reexamine this vision as the area changes and achieves important milestones.

Provide elderly persons and/or handicapped persons with housing facilities and services specially designated to meet their social and psychological needs

Provide housing for adults with serious mental illness.

To promote initiatives which enhance and expand educational, employment, economic, leadership, and cultural opportunities in and around the danville and pittsylvania county virginia area; to sponsor and engage in activities that promote economic development

Provides fire and emergency medical services to approximately 800 area homes using an all volunteer staff of firefighters and emts.

To promote economic development in the city of danville and pittsylvania county areas for all citizens living in the piedmont area.

To provide after school educational setting for students who are at risk of dropping out of school. to assist with homework assignments in math reading and writing

Management, care & preservation of bassett family cemetery

To provide families with comprehensive services to assist with child development.

Provide income distributions to sacred heart catholic church in danville, virginia.

To stimulate voluntary private support from friends, corporations, foundations, and others for the benefit of the institute for advanced learning and research.
